Power of our Thoughts

Dr Sherry Skyler Kelly 2021;

Does positivity work? This is neuroimaging of the brain with a functional MRI. This is a study that was done of motivational techniques. If you look at the scan on the left, you will see a lot of blue, and that brain was scanned when they used very negative coaching techniques for compliance – fixing what’s wrong, addressing what’s wrong, let’s bolster up the areas that are weak (focus on fixing the negative). Instead of focussing on positive approaches to motivating people at work, managers, coaches, teachers. This had to do with focussing on the strengths. The positive, compassionate style of motivation is the image scan on the right, and this is associated with big picture thinking and stress regulation.”
